LIBRARY POLICIES

Library Policies

The mission of the ISPS Library is to provide services to support the programs and activities of the library and the school.
To ensure equitable and fair access to resources, these are the expectations:
  1. All library users keep good care of their borrowed materials, renew them as needed, and avoid overdue books. The mission is to provide timely access to materials for all users.
  2. Students may check out five books at a time under their name.
  3. Teachers may check out as many books as they need for curriculum support.
    • Due dates for teachers may be extended for longer periods of time if needed for extended units.
  4. Parents may check out five books at a time under their name.
  5. Guests may check out 1-3 books, depending on the situation.
  6. All books are loaned for two weeks at a time.
    • Books may be renewed for an additional two weeks, provided there are no hold requests.
  7. Resources borrowed under one patron's name must be returned directly to the library and not given to another patron.
  8. Checked-out items can only be collected by the person who borrowed them. Teachers may not send students to collect items. No one can check out an item for someone else.
  9. All items borrowed from the library must be returned before a school term ends.
  10. Kindle devices and iPod devices* must be renewed every two weeks. The only exceptions will be for devices borrowed over the Christmas or Easter holidays or summer vacation.
*We are phasing out Kindles and iPods; we encourage users to access Sora, our ebook and audiobook platform.

Lost and Damaged Materials

All items borrowed from the library are the financial responsibility of the patron.
Lost or damaged items must be paid for by patrons.
The replacement fee is the cost of the item (in USD) plus a processing/shipping fee of $10 (USD) per item.
